A small vegetation fire on the east bank of Lake Anderson is currently being attacked by CAL FIRE air and ground units. Two tankers circling plus helicopter air support. Fire is in the vicinity of 3995 East Dunne Avenue. Fortunately, this fire could be controlled while there was still enough light for close-in air attack. The cause is believed to be a downed power-line. Thursday 9/11/2008 7:30am Flight tracking addendum - follow the boss! :) For example... if you work for eBay, you might notice that their Gulfstream V is headed from San Jose to Manchester New Hampshire today. How do we know? Well, if you check the scheduled departures from SJC you will see flight N159JA, a GLF5 leaving at 10am for MHT. Checking the FAA N-Number registry reveals the owner for N159JA as EBAY INC. Happy bidding! :) Don't work at eBay ? Well HP's Gulfstreams are N608WB and N628BD. Then there's N2N registered to one Steven "still alive" Jobs. If you see flights with the code TECxxx and aircraft E135 they are from Intel's fleet of Embraer ERJ-135ER jets, most likely making runs to Hillsboro OR or Sacramento CA to service Intel's major sites in those regions. I'm sure you can find your company's private ride if you look hard enough! Also note that the airport activity departure and arrival times are a bit funky right now. Some appear to be standard time instead of daylight savings and others seem to use the destination time zone for the departure point too e.g. west to east coast private jet flights like the eBay one mentioned above which actually left at around 8am PDT ! Wednesday 9/10/2008 5:15pm Testing a new flight tracking feature courtesy of AirNav Systems. You can view all flight activity for a given airport or aircraft or airline. See arrival and departure information or just watch flight tracks overlaid on Google maps. Flight data includes freight and private aircraft e.g. executive jets, so if you know your CEO is coming to town keep an eye on him/her with us. Use the custom search feature which is very powerful. Check it out here. Note that this interface is fairly new and definitely has some rough edges. All flight track data is delayed by at least 5 minutes for security reasons. Use at your own risk. Monday 9/8/2008 7:50am Fog is back and temperatures will be much cooler for the next few days. Take a breather from the 100+ heat because it might be back by the weekend.  |
