| Morgan Hill Weather News: Tuesday 10/28/2008 9:15am In case you missed it, here are some webcam snapshots from yesterday's sunset : Also see the new time-lapse video in our theater. Wednesday 10/22/2008 12:00pm The trends pages have been modified to always deliver the latest charts and hopefully bypass any server-side caching that has been a problem recently. In addition, the nowcast page has been completely re-engineered to use Flash-based gauges with animation! Take a look. If you spot any bugs... let me know. The charts should update every 5 minutes but I'm still tweaking. The vertical gauges should only re-animate when their values change. High and low watermarks indicate high and low values for the day. Monday 10/20/2008 5:30pm Update: The garbage truck has been removed and traffic on southbound 101 is now flowing freely out of Morgan Hill towards Gilroy. Monday 10/20/2008 4:40pm Traffic through Morgan Hill on southbound 101 is still very slow as the rush-hour approaches. Here's some video of the garbage truck fire not long after it started and including the first fire fighter intervention. Fire crews and CHP are still on scene and appear to be preparing to remove the truck. Delays continue. Monday 10/20/2008 3:15pm A South Valley Disposal garbage truck has been burning on the side of southbound 101, just past the Tennant on-ramp, for the past 45 minutes. Two CAL FIRE engines and a water tender are in attendance and smoke continues to billow across the freeway. Southbound 101 traffic at Tennant is slow before the incident. Saturday 10/18/2008 9:25am 20% chance of thunderstorms today? Perhaps... see below. A few spots of rain also fell in the last hour. Wednesday 10/15/2008 10:45pm There appears to be a vegetation fire off of Watsonville Rd somewhere between Santa Teresa and Uvas. Multiple fire engines are on scene or en-route and parts of Watsonville Rd are closed at this time. From our distant viewpoint, this fire does not look too severe but has small pockets of flame spread over a wide area. Sunday 10/12/2008 3:!5pm The site is experiencing a number of issues which started last Thursday. The most noticeable of which is stale charts and gauges on the nowcast and trends pages. This is believed to be due to server-side caching issues at Yahoo Hosting and they are investigating. If you look at these pages regularly, please pay special attention to the most recent time and/or date within the chart or gauge. Sometimes a Ctrl-F5 refresh will get you newer content but this is not a solution or fix. Apologies for any inconvenience. Saturday 10/11/2008 1:25pm Two vegetation fires broke out in the last hour. The first at 630 Spring Ave on the west side of Morgan Hill and the second shortly afterwards at 4660 Roop Rd on the east side of Gilroy, just south of Coyote Lake. Two air tankers and two helicopters were rapidly deployed by CAL FIRE to contain these incidents. Photos below are of the smoke and air attack above the Spring Ave incident: Sunday 10/5/2008 3:40pm First rain of the season yesterday. Here's an extended time-lapse of the afternoon showers passing over Morgan Hill : |
