Morgan Hill Weather News: Wednesday 2/28/2007 7:00am
For those of you still under the fog which is filling the valley, there's snow on both the western mountains and those eastern peaks edging Henry Coe Park. It's a snow day !!

It's only 5:00pm and I just noticed that the wind chill temperature had dipped below freezing point!
Increased the webcam image update frequency from every 5 minutes to every minute.

In case you didn't notice (ha!), it rained today... and rained... and then rained some more. I think it's probably still raining! Might stop by Thursday!! Making up for lost time earlier this winter :)

The site was not updating for most of today. Oops, my mistake.
Here's a photo from yesterday evening before the rain:

Those of you with eagle-eyes or a good spotting scope will be able to see that there's now a light dusting of snow on top of the highest peaks west of the city. Around 2,500 to 3,000 feet above sea level.

A hint of blue sky after the storm... but now it's pouring again!
Thursday 2/22/2007 8:30am
We are heading towards half an inch of rain this morning from some pretty heavy showers. Take a look at the radar image from an hour ago.
Also see the clouds above that were gathering last night before the storm and after the power was restored ! :)

This evening's sunset. Notice that as the sun moves further north for our summer, so the sunset moves up towards San Jose and the south bay area.

Tonight we were treated to a surprisingly spectacular sunset over good old El Toro. Captured below for your enjoyment :

Saturday 2/10/2007 9:30am
A couple of shots after the storm... now it has stopped raining!
Friday 2/9/2007 8:40am
Less than a quarter of an inch of rain so far. We got off lightly but there's still another 24hrs worth of rain to come. This is such a warm storm coming up from the south west, you could almost be in the tropics! ;)
Thursday 2/8/2007 8:10am
Captured some unusual lighting from a brief glimpse of this morning's rising sun. A little rain overnight but still much more to come. KRON4's Mark Danon says midnight to 4am for the heaviest downpours. Let's see...

Plenty of cloud but precious little rain. We appear to have dodged the bullet so far today...
Tuesday 2/6/2007 11:00am
Rain is coming. Sounds like tomorrow for sure. Time to look for the umbrella that you thought about selling on ebay. Our lawn could do with a good soaking so we're actually looking forward to an inch or two. Perhaps this coming weekend will be a good time to stay inside and do one's taxes? Oh joy!
Meanwhile, here's a peek at last night's sunset. No Salma Hayek I'm afraid, but you could be in the Bahamas...
Monday 2/5/2007 3:50pm
This morning's sunrise, with a hint of salmon pink:
Saturday 2/3/2007 7:00pm
Oh yes, more sunset photographs...

Well, it's Groundhog Day and young Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this morning, which, according to German folklore, means we can expect an early Spring! Hmm, if you're like me and already tired of these dull grey days with no sunshine... let's believe in the power of Groundhog Day!! :)
On the other hand, if you are enjoying these overcast skies, let me recommend a long trip to England where I am pretty sure you won't be disappointed. British Airways will have some great fares right now, especially as they just averted a cabin crew strike and no doubt have more empty seats than usual. Fly direct non-stop to London from SFO.

Changed the layout of the nowcast page and included a new yearly rain gauge. The year in this case runs from July to June so the total represents a winter's or rainy season's rainfall. We started counting in October 2006.
