| Morgan Hill Weather News: Thursday 8/30/2007 6:00pm No thunderstorms today but multiple fires in the western hills. We could see one west of Hollister, a significant one in the Stevens Canyon Reservoir area west of Cupertino and just recently... one near Whispering Pines Drive in Almaden Valley. Thursday 8/30/2007 7:45am More than a few clouds scattered across the sunrise this morning. The forecast for today has changed to mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. A fire weather watch has been issued because of the risk of dry lightning. Still expecting temperatures in the nineties. If you didn't notice, we broke 100°F yesterday. Monday 8/27/2007 4:55pm Just checked the forecast and we're going to be HOT for the rest of this week. Pushing 100°F for the next 2 or 3 days. Also noticed that our humidity dropped below 20% today which is bad for fire risk. Stay cool and stay safe. Remember... don't play with matches!! Thursday 8/23/2007 7:20am Felt like a very windy night and this morning it's still blowing with lots of fog rolling across our hillside. Here's the wind speed trend for the last 24 hours, showing an unusual second peak around 5am: Saturday 8/18/2007 8:15am Hurricane Dean is barreling across the Caribbean. Now a category 4 storm and expected to strengthen to category 5 tomorrow. It is on a path to strike one of our favorite vacation islands -- Jamaica -- with a direct hit. Let's hope it does a "wobble" and veers off to either side. You would not want to be anywhere close to this storm. Click here for the latest visible and infrared satellite images of Dean (infrared can "see" the storm in the dark). Friday 8/17/2007 11:55am A microearthquake occurred at 11:49:54 AM (PDT) this morning, magnitude 2.4 and 5 miles ENE of Morgan Hill... that's only 2.5 miles from our location or 1 mile east of the south end of Lake Anderson. I felt it but only just! Enough though to make me come in and check the Quakes page. Did the earth move or was it just the wind? Thursday 8/16/2007 9:15am Only a little fog over the mountains this morning... Friday 8/10/2007 7:00am A beautiful ocean of fog has filled the valley this morning. Well, it's beautiful if you are up above it... Sunday 8/5/2007 9:45am What a dull and cloudy morning! Forecast suggests we should expect much cooler weather in the coming week, consistent with such cloudy mornings. Wednesday 8/1/2007 4:45pm Temperature and humidity readings have been restored. |
